Leading Russian off-roader producer, UAZ, a subsidiary of steel giant Severstal, will introduce its new Patriot on the Russian market in July.
The car, which was originally called the 3163 was first introduced at the 2003 Moscow International Motor Show. Ultimately it is destined to become the successor of the slow-selling, not-too-popular Simbir.
Patriot is equipped with a 2.7-liter petrol engine, with 128 bhp of power. It is supplied from the ZMZ engine factory, another Severstal subsidiary.
UAZ plans to add airbags, ABS, automatic gearbox and a diesel engine in 2006.
